It's Senior Time...

I'm at a time in my life where my sons are always home for dinner, sleepovers are decided by me, kisses are still okay, and the house is full of noise. This past month, made me remember to not take it for granted.  Why? It was Senior Portrait time. Time for those getting ready to take that next step to have that moment in time captured in a photograph. This year, Senior Portraits are especially special because my nephew Collin will be graduating in May. Collin is like the little brother that I never had. I am still looking at our session going "How did this happen? Where did the time go?". To Collin, Samantha, and Benito, thank you for allowing me to capture this time in your life. I truly enjoyed photographing each of you. Good luck in all that you do and may life greet you with many wonderful things!

It's night before it's afternoon.
December is here before it's June.
My goodness how the time has flewn.
How did it get so late so soon?"

Ms Valentina, nice to meet you!

If this blog was my child, I would have been arrested by now for child neglect and abandonment. What has happened since my last posting? Let's see, that would be the month, the YEAR, my waistline, and well, many new pictures. This year has been a great year for Taylor Holbrook Photography. It started off with new clients and is continuing to grow. March has been especially wonderful. I have stated in the past that I wanted to stay at three to four sessions a month, however as much as things are taking off, that opinion died a few weeks ago. May we have a moment of silence for the 3-4 sessions per month idea? No? Yeah, too corny.
Back to the reason for me getting up off my hind-quarters and bloggjng today. This week I got to meet a very special little "peanut" and her name is Valentina. Valentina is gorgeous, of course with the genes that were bestowed upon her, it would be pretty hard for her not to be. Her session taught me a few things. Number 1. Always bring a big garbage bag to place under the backdrops (I'll let you figure that one out) Number 2. Pictures of babies that are awake are just as cute as the ones where they are asleep ( maybe even better).  All in all, it was a great time that really started my day off well.
To the two people following this blog: Thank you and I promise to try to do a better job of blogging. Ta-ta for now...

Leaping Lizards!! It's Christmas Time!!!

I know that every year, everyone talks about how the year has flown by. Maybe it's because, every year, it is true. It seems that as soon as you hit adulthood, our days become so busy that we need more hours on the clock, except that we would only use those hours to come up with more things we need to do. Long gone are the days when summer days were actually lazy, winter break was actually a break, or there was no need to place 1/2 at the end when someone asked us how old we were.
Enough rambling (Wait, isn't that what a blog is?) Last week, we had some of our family from Alabama come into town. To say that things have been dull would only be true if it were opposite day. In between granny showing me the new girdle that she was currently wearing by dropping her pants in the middle of the living room, to all the children in the neighborhood taking over my house, I have actually managed to do a few sessions plus take holiday pictures of the family. Also, and this is what I am most excited about, I am almost done with the website for taylorholbrookphotography.com. In case you are wondering why I changed the name of the business, it is because there is already a very popular photographer by the name Amanda Holbrook. Want to know where Taylor comes from? It is my new middle name. What was the old one? Well, tough. :) I hope that you will visit the official website upon it's completion. Also, I hope that everyone is having a very happy holiday season!

In the beginning......

I can't believe how fast this year has gone! I guess I shouldn't be suprised considering how busy my family has been. While I have always loved taking pictures, in May I began my own photography business. Let me just say, I LOVE IT!
This month I had 3 sessions. I am trying to limit my sessions to 2 to 3 per month. This allows me to have time, not only for  my family, my job as a L&D nurse, and going back to school, but also to be able to plan out great sesions and have plenty of time for editing. I promise you that I am as excited about my clients sessions as they are. I want to make sure that we have a great time and that they love the photographs as much as I loved taking them.
